This ranges widely across temperate regions of North America, and perhaps further south (FNA 25). However, it is largely restricted to seasonally dry sandy soils, and most common in arid western regions. In Ky. most records are from western regions along major rivers, but a few disjunct records are from eastern regions on sandy riverbanks.
