Urticaceae Parietaria floridana (nummulariia)
Parietaria floridana Nutt.
ALI: S HAB: n/a, n/a, n/a, n/a ABU: n/a, n/a, 0
This species occurs largely on the southeastern Coastal Plain, but there are disjunct records from central Ark., n. Ala. and scattered up to N.J. (K); more northern plants may be adventive (W) or just greenhouse weeds (P. Adanick, pers. comm.). P. floridana has been attributed to Ky. in the past, based largely on colls. of B from CART, PULA and WAYN (US); see also Smith & Hodgdon from WAYNE (MUHW), etc. Those colls. have been redetermined as pensylvanica (M), which is confirmed from posted images (US); see further notes under pensylvanica. Typical floridana has been found in or adjacent to greenhouses of JESS, MADI, SHEL and elsewhere (APSC; P. Adanick, pers. comm.), but it does not appear to establish persistent populations here outdoors..
