This frequently planted tree ("Norway maple") occasionally establishes from self-seedings. The more certain records mapped here (with solid dots) are from contexts that suggest true naturalization is under way, but details are lacking in several cases. It is not clear yet if this species is completing life-cycles in the wild. The speces is highly palatablre to deer, which may reduce its invasion (Fargione et al. 1991, Martin & Marks 2006).
