This annual occurs on damp acid soils across eastern North America, except for the southeastern Coastal Plain. A few colls. from Ky. have unusual greenish or whitish flowers (MCRA, METC). The record from FAYE is based just on a waif in a mowed lawn (JC, pers. obs.).
