Poaceae <Bromeae> Bromus <Bromus> hordeaceus ("mollis")
Bromus hordeaceus L.
ALI: EU HAB: H-12?, ::::, D, 6 ABU: n/a, n/a, 4
This tetraploid annual of Mediterranean origin has distinctively short, dense panicles. Including four subspecies, hordeaceus is widespread across much of North America, especially western states, but it remains uncommon to absent in southeastern states (FNA 24). In Ky. most records are from roadsides or railroads, and made by John Thieret (KNK). These plants all appear to be typical ssp, hordeaceus.
