Although widely planted, this southeastern small tree species has not yet naturalized in Ky. The northern edge of its native range in the Ohio Valley lies within 50-100 miles of Ky. in w. Tenn. and w. Va. (K). There have been recent indications of self-sown seedlings in BULL (K) and FAYE (pers. obs. at Lansdowne-Merrick Park in Jan 2025).
