This twining, stinging perennial is centered in calcareous regions of the central and lower Mississippi Valley, but uncommon to absent east of the Mississippi Rv. It is scattered across w. and c. Ky., usually in thin dry woods and edges, but it is relatively inconspicuous and rarely noted in large numbers.
