Viburnaceae [Caprifoliaceae*] Viburnum <Viburnum> rhytidophyllum
Viburnum rhytidophyllum Hemsl.
ALI: AS HAB: n/a, n/a, n/a, n/a ABU: n/a, n/a, 0
This Chinese shrub is widely planted, and it rarely spreads from seed in northeastern states. In Ky. a few plants have established from seed in forest adjacent to the lodge at Pine Mt. State Park in BELL (M, Weckman et al. 2002), but it is not clear if these will become a reproducing population. A hybrid with lantana (X rhytidophylloides Valck. Sur.) is often cultivated (plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/), and is misleadingly sometimes known as "Allegheny Viburnum".
