This perennial (with tuberculate roots) occurs from southeastern states to South America. In Ky. it is largely restricted to wetlands of the Mississippian Embayment and among the Shawnee Hills. Records from JEFF (KY) and NELS (Greenwell 1935) are uncertain.or old.
