Mapping here is tentative. This taxon may just be a western form of tuberculatus, originally centered in the Great Plains; some authors have now combined these species (FNA 4, Y, W). A. rudis sometimes appears transitional from tuberculatus to arenicola or palmeri. As in related species, rudis is known to have become somewhat resistant to herbicides in corn and soybeans (Safrangi et al. 2017).
