This is tentatively segregated here based on following differences (based partly on collaborative work with A. Floden): leaves with shallower serrations, averaging 2-3 per cm (versus 3-4), usually more bluish green, larger ones mostly with truncate to deltoid base (versus cuneate to truncate); plants usually 20-40 cm tall with 5-7 nodes (versus 40-100 cm with 7-10 nodes), unbranched or with two branches (versus often with more than two); leaves often relatively large at distal positions on stems (versus gradually decreasing); flowering often as early as late May or early June (versus mid-June to late July).
