This is a widespread northern species that has been erroneously reported from Ky. (M), but it does occur nearby in most adjacent states (K). Errors have persisted through SERNEC and other sources. Colls.identified as "palustris" by J.L. Gentry from HENR are sylvestris; see also correctly identified material at APSC. However, palustris may be expected in Ky. and further investigation is needed. The species may be sown sometimes for varied purposes in Ky. (R. Hoffman, Roundstone Seed, pers. comm.). See also notes under nemoralis.
