This stoloniferous tetraploid (2n = 32) occurs in wetlands of southeastern states, mostly on the Coastal Plain. The closely related diploid, L. linearis Walter, was reported from Ky. by BA, noting a coll. from the Bluegrass region at KY-Agr., but no coll. has been located; it is a more southern species unlikely to occur in the state. However, there are several records from c, Tenn., and it is also known from e. Mo. (K, Thomas 2017).
