This 3- or 4-merous species occurs on diverse hosts (but perhaps mostly on woody plants), and it is widespread in wetlands of northern and western states but rare to absent in the southeast (K, W; Spaulding 2013b). In Ky. cephalanthi has been reported only from CALL (Funk & Fuller 1978; check MUR), ROWA (B, but no coll. at US) and UNIO (Shacklett 1937; check KY-Agr.). Colls. probably exist to support these reports, but have not been located for confirmation.
