This species from central and southern Europe is a widely grown ornamental, especially in rock gardens, but it has not been reported before as naturalized in the U.S.A. (FNA 3, K). Brock (2020) discovered a vigorous patch in rocky woodland of BOUR during 2013, apparently resulting from horticultural dumping along an adjacent road.
