This cosmopolitan weed is widely scattered across most of North America but rare to absent in southeastern states. Records from Ky. are few and mostly earlier than 1920, except for a escape at Thieret's garden during 1988 in CAMP (KNK): BOON (Nelson 1919), FAYE in 1893 (Ky. Agr.); and colls. of C.W. Short in 1840 from "banks of Ohio River" (CM, Field, GH) or "abundant along the sandy borders of the Ohio River (GH, NY).
