This weedy annual is gradually spreading across eastern states, especially along salted interstate highways. It appears to have had two major waves of invasion (SERNEC), from the northeast (as early as the 1850s in Penn.) and then from the south (as early as the 1970s in Tex.). Some intervening states have remained largely empty so far. In Ky., the first records were in 2023.
