This northeastern subaquatic occurs mostly in or near Appalachian regions and the Ohio River watershed. In Ky. it is rare and largely restricted to older ponds and sloughs in northern regions. More western records are old (1816 coll. from EDMO at Field) or obscure (HEND not detailed in M).
