Lamiaceae <Ajugoideae> Teucrium canadense* var. virginicum
Teucrium canadense L. var. virginicum (L.) Eat.
ALI: no HAB: f-8,7,6,4, n/a, D, 4 ABU: g10, s10, -1
This taxon is widespread in temperate regions of eastern North America (F). Compared to typical canadense (= T. littorale Bickn.), leaves tend to be broader (2-6 cm versus 1.5-3 cm), and "green and glabrous or only sparingly appressed-pubescent, but scarcely papillose above" versus "hoary beneath, the upper surface papillose beneath the dense appressed pubescence" (F). F considered var. canadense to be concentrated near the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts, extending "up the Miss. embayment to Okl." However, W did not distinguish these two taxa.
