This vine is widespread across southern states and ne. Mexico. At the northern edge of its range, along the Kentucky Rv. Palisades and elsewhere, it tends to occur mostly on warmer calcareous slopes. Plants in Ky. do not become noticeably woody. There is little published information on its ecology and chemistry; plants may be browsed by deer to a moderate degree.
