Polygonaceae <Polygoneae> Fallopia [Polygonum*] baldschuanica (aubertii)
Fallopia baldschuanica (Regel) Holub
ALI: AS HAB: n/a, n/a, n/a, 4 ABU: n/a, n/a, 0
This somewhat woody rhizomatous vine (2n = 20) has been cultivated in scattered localities across the U.S.A. under various names (including "Russian vine" and "mile-a-minute"). It occasionally escapes (K) and becomes locally invasive, but does not appear to have spread significantly into rural landscapes. The only Ky. records are colls. from apparently cultivated CALD snd FAYE (KY-Agr.). F. aubertii (Henry) Holb may just be a form of baldschuanica with greenish (versus pinkish) flowers and more scabrid inflorescence axes (FNA 5, W).
