This rhizomatous perennial is sometimes grown for ornament (as "dusty miller" or "old woman"), and has spread along lake-shores and coasts in northeastern regions, but it does not seem to be have become truly naturalized in the Ohio Valley. The only Ky. record is a coll. from HICK, growing wild along a roadside in 1962 (EKY).
