Cuscuta pentagona Engelm.

Mapping is provisional due to confusion with campestris. This quasi-tetraploid (2n = 56) is widespread in temperate regions of North America. It is the most commonly reported species of Cuscuta in Ky., on a wide variety of hosts in diverse habitats. See notes under the closely related campestris. There has also been confusion with C. obtusiflora Engelm., a more southern species that has been reported from several counties but probably just in error (SERNEC, W); see notes under gronovii.
