Poaceae <Agrostideae> Alopecurus pratensis
Alopecurus pratensis L.
ALI: EU HAB: F-9, ::?, D, 5 ABU: n/a, n/a, 4
In North America, this widespread variable alien is most frequent in northeastern and northwestern regions; 2n = 28 and 42 (FNA 24). It has been present in Ky. since 1890 or earlier (Gm), when seed was distributed for pasture. But it remains generally uncommon to rare, and concentrated in the Bluegrass region or on adjacent lowlands. It is known to be locally common at a few sites in FAYE, including Spindletop Farm (T. Phillips, pers. comm.) and in a wet old field at Moberly Spring (at end of Allendale Drive).
