This perennial (rhizomatous or stoloniferous) "water forget-me-not" is sometimes cultivated, and occasionally persists or escapes. The "garden forget-me-not" from Europe, M. sylvatica Hoffm., is a related perennial that is sometimes sown in "wildflower" mixes, but it is virtually unknown as a wild plant south of the Great Lakes region (K, W).
