This annual weed is widely scattered across temperate regions of North America. It was first found in Ky. during the 1980s (M). It is spreading, often in association with fresh ornamental plantings from nurseries. Plants have toxic pyrrolidizine alkaloids that include the carcinogen, riddelline (Cheng et al. 2017).
