This is widespread and locally abundant on lowlands in the lower Mississippi Valley and along major tributaries, especially on the Gulf Coastal Plain, but it is less common to rare on the Atlantic Coastal Plain (K, W). It has just recently been found in sw. Ind, (Weakley et al. 2023). It is concentrated at the edges of swampy and riparian woods.
