This has been collected from along a railroad in PIKE (M; DUKE), but it is not clear if this popular cultivar is able to become truly naturalized in Ky. It is reported to a generally sterile hybrd derived from C. glauca L. and C. indica L. (FNA 22, W). Plants are relatively palatable to mammalian herbivores, and deer can reduce growth in some regions (Williams et al. 2006). C. indica has an ancient history of culinary and medicinal uses, with diverse relevant chemistry now documented (Al-Snafi 2015).
