This is a widespread northern (circumboreal) species that extends south along the higher Appalachian Mts. of W.Va., Va., Tenn. and N.Car. However, there are no records from southern Ohio, Ind. or Ill. There is a possible record from Ky.: ROWA (MDKY) by S. Ison #89, 10 Oct 1973, "Triplett Creek bed sandbar, sunny wet, probably rich soil." However, this coll. is somewhat immature and difficult to distinguish from sciripioides.
