This southeastern weed of sandy soils is a rare waif in Ky. and Tenn. (Ch). The only Ky. record is a coll. of MM from horticultural plantings in JEFF, at the Univ. of Louisville during 1991-92. E. compositifolium differs from capillifolium as follows (FNA 21, W): leaf blades or lobes mostly 0.5-2.5 mm wide (versus 0.2-0.5 mm, strongly revolute); phyllaries usually puberulent, at least on midveins (versus glabrous or glabrate), usually gland-dotted (versus no so).
