This polyploid is close to reptans and has probably been confused at some sites in North America (2n = 56 versus 28). A coll. from BREC (KY) has been identified as anglica, but cannot now be relocated. Based on Clapham et al. (1962), anglica differs from reptans in its largely decumbent (versus prostrate) stems, rooting only late in summer (versus from the first); also, leaves are partly fernate (versus 4 or 5-palmate), and cauline petioles tend to be shorter. Distinction from canadensis will require careful inspection, perhaps initially based on leaves being partly ternate (versus usually 5-palmate); also, flowers are ca. 75% 4-merous (versus strictly 5-merous). But leaflets and flowers have similar sizes.
