Fabaceae <F-Fabeae> Vicia angustifolia (sativa* ssp. nigra)
Vicia angustifolia L.
ALI: EU HAB: F-10,8, ::?, C, 4 ABU: n/a, n/a, 5
This Mediterranean annual has been widely planted for forage across North America. It is close to typical sativa, and is often treated as V. sativa L. ssp. nigra (L.) Ehrh. Many records mapped here may come from plantings. Without flowers, angustifolia can be distinguished from villosa (the other common vetch in fields of Ky.) by its sharply lobed or toothed stipules (versus entire).
