Fabaceae <F-Robineae> Robinia viscosa
Robinia viscosa Vent.
ALI: E HAB: n/a, n/a, n/a, n/a ABU: n/a, n/a, 0
This is native to the Blue Ridge and nearby mountains, but has also been widely cultivated (W); it may also be considered native in the Ouachita Mts. of Ark. (Isely 1990; K). R. viscosa has been reported from Ky. by RAB and M, but it has not been verified; there has been some confusion with boyntonii. It differs as follows (W): leaflets usually 13-21 (versus 9-13), permanently but inconspicuously appressed-pubescent beneath (initially appressed-silky but later glabrate); bracts, which are evident only before anthesis, aristate (versus not so); plants never with long hispid hnairs (versus with or without.sparse long hispid hairs).
