This has been widely planted in northeastern states, and locally naturalized. In Ky. escapes have been collected in CALL (Ind. Univ. SE), FRAN (EKY) and ROWA (MDKY) from isolated waifs or old plantings (Weckman et al. 2002; CW). An early coll. from cultivation in JEFF was made by C. Mohr , dated 10 Aug 1884: "Cult. Louisville Central Park" (US).
