Forestiera acuminata (Michx.) Poir.
ALI: no HAB: 2,3, n/a, E?, 4 ABU: g8, s8, -2
This large shrub of southeastern states is restricted to swampy woods and thickets, usually on base-rich clayey soils. It can become thorny, which is an unusual condition for opposite-leaved shrubs (D. Estes, pers. comm.); see also Frangula cathartica and Ligustrum obtusifolium.
