Angelica triquinata Michx.
ALI: no HAB: 7,5,4,1?, n/a, C?, 3 ABU: g8, s4, -1
This tall perennial (perhaps monocarpic) is largely restricted to cooler zones of the central and southern Appalachians, where it occurs in thin mesic woods and openings. In Ky. the records from HARL (KY), WHIT (KSNPC) and probably LETC (KSNPC) are well-documented; but a Thaspium coll. from BELL (KY, NCU) has been misidentified as Angelica in some data. There is also a 1939 coll. labelled as from ROWA (MDKY), but the data may be doubted (Campbell et al. 1992). More western, records are based on venenosa or dubious: (1) McMurtrie (1819) listed if for the Louisville area; (2) Short (1840) listed it for "barrens of Ky." but his coll. at NCU is venenosa;; (3) Pr listed it for WARR, but no coll. has been located at MO; (4) a 1950s coll. from ADAI (F) was verified by R. Cranfill (pers. comm.).
