This southern (pantropical) species has been reported from the Ky. (J), but details are not available. It was recently found in w. Tenn. (Stewart Co.) about 10 miles from CHRI (D. Estes, pers. comm.). Hybrids can be expected with congeners; 2n = 30 (as in most/all Typhaceae sensu lato).
