This showy purple "poppy-mallow" (a perennial) occurs widely in the Great Plains, and it is rarely adventive to the east. The only Ky. record is a coll. from FAYE (KY-Agr.): H. Garman, 27 May 1908, "from Agropyron occidentalie Plot" [apparently a waif in grass seed from the west]. The species is sometimes used in "wildflower" plantings, for example along Interstate 64 in FAYE at Rt 859 (2016).
