Asclepiadaceae [Apocynaceae] Asclepias <Acerates> viridiflora
Asclepias viridiflora Raf.
ALI: no HAB: 12,10, n/a, E?, 5 ABU: g9, s8, -3
This widespread tap-rooted species is centered in the Great Plains but extends into the rocky glades of east-central states, usually on xeric base-rich soils. It varies much in leaf shape and pubescence. Although this species has been treated in subgenus Acerates, the genus will need substantial revision after recent molecular work is developed into a new taxonomy (Fishbein et al. 2018).
